JQPlot as my JQuery Graph preference

May 2, 2012

I haven’t posted for a while, so I would post my recent findings today.

Looking for a JQuery plugin for charts and pie charts, I had googled on the web, and found various ones, obviously High Charts was a nice one to have but for commercial purposes you have to pay for a license but i would rather concentrate on a free open source JQuery plugin. GraphUp had a nice box effect feature with the grids to make a static page look informative but needed a licence to use it.

Reviewing the site http://www.1stwebdesigner.com/css/top-jquery-chart-libraries-interactive-charts/, there were plenty and more options on choosing a JQuery chart plugin.

After finding for an hour or so, my choice was JQPlot purely for the reason that it looks for Flot which I had previously used but I particular like the nice glossy finishings of things like pie charts which highlights when you hover unlike Flot as well as the simplicity of the JQuery functions just by looking at the demos and the demo code.

I have concentrated on using JQPlot rather than Flot as it offers much more functionality with the same style of graph and pie charts.
