Solving NHibernate issues if getting latest copy from Subversion

November 26, 2012

Although not the best option, I tried getting the latest copy of the project from Subversion on a brand new folder.  Although not clearly state, you don’t Add the Solution To Subversion as that adds the new project to subversion, you need to click on Open from Subversion to select the files you wish to get from Subversion. Unless you commit frequently, it is not the best idea as when you get the latest version, some files may appear missing !!

If you get the following similar messages like: –

Could not load file or assembly ‘Iesi.Collections, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=aa95f207798dfdb4’ or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

You need to add the files

  • Iesi.Collections.dll
  • log4net.dll
  • Nhibernate.dll

Or the Iesi.Collections.dll from the message into every reference project in Visual Studio!! Not every reference folder, so mperhaps its best to keep a main repository in the web site folder.

What I also found out is that if it is not very clear at all if you get the latest version from Subversion, subversion only tells you the last updated file in its history so be aware!
