Tips on a top navigation bar

March 23, 2013

Yesterday, I had been modifying a top bar navigation site design to the design I had been given, which I had to adhere. What I had found out is that for a top bar navigation to have items such as images on the left, and right that is proportionate to the header text in the middle. I used float:left and float:right appropriately onto the top bar with very less emphasis on the margins set for these items, you can set these for the left margin for the left image and the right margin foe the right image. Then have a parent div tag that sets the overall width, using min:width notation for responsive websites, this allows items like the images in the top navigation bar to adjust accordingly to the width of the top bar nav.
