A few more tips on iFrames (Part 2)

March 25, 2013

As I do some testing on some more top bar navigation stuff using JQuery, I used the IFrame as a temporary basis for testing this. A good way for links from the top bar navigation such as a button, or a link containing a logo image is to redirect the IFrame’s URL to another page. Therefor the link on the top bar navigation doesn’t change the url for the whole page.

Here’s how to do this: –

<nav id=’topbarnav’ ><a id=logolink’ target=”frame” href=”http://www.bbc.co.uk”><div id=’logo’><span>Logo</span></a></div></nav>

……….further down the page………………

For instance the a link ‘logolink’ is your logo which takes the url back to the homepage of bbc.co.uk, make sure you can url IFrame a name such as “frame”, and you set the target in the a link to be target=”frame”, this allows your IFrame to redirect to bbc.co.uk
