Security Issue on ASP.NET IIS

June 3, 2013

If you ever receive the following error when you do a new publish or copy files over an existing publish in IIS: –

Security Exception
Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy.  To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application’s trust level in the configuration file.

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type ‘System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089’ failed.

It usually means one of two things, either you need to refresh the website, which could fix the issue immediately, due to referencing issues of DLLs from  another computer or it could be the application pool whenever something inexplicable occurs, its due to the application pool running in Integrated Pipeline Mode.  You need to set “Load User Profile” to true.
